The Talent Fairy’s Editorial Hiring Report 2024 was conducted via social media and email from October 22, 2023 to December 13, 2023. Survey respondents were filtered so only those who identified as an editor, writer, or content strategist were included in these results; for simplicity’s sake we refer to them collectively as “editor.” Of those 268 respondents, 91% have previously worked in traditional editorial. At the time the survey was taken, the content area that best describes their work is: 36% editorial/digital publishing; 20% content marketing/brand publishing; 15% print editorial; 8% books; 6% thought leadership/corporate communications; 5% e-commerce /affiliate marketing; and 10% fell into brand copywriting, video, radio/podcast; and/or UX writing. 73% identified as Non-Hispanic White/Euro-American; 10% as Black, Afro-Caribbean, or African-American; 7% as Latino or Hispanic American; 5% as South Asian or Indian; 3% as East Asian or Asian American; 2% were other. 14% identified with having a physical, emotional, hearing, mental, visual or other disability.
